The History of Writing, A-Z
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
This is a reoccuring event.
Students in this class will get an in-depth look at the origins of writing in human history, including the way writing systems spread across the ancient world and how they evolved to the systems we use today. The class will also explore the ways that writing enabled civilizations to develop complex scientific and accounting systems, and learn how ancient Mayan and Egyptian hieroglyphs were deciphered after centuries of obscurity. Additional topics include “lost” writing systems and the modern arts of typography and font design.
