About Me
I received my B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from UCSB. One day I might finally finish my dissertation entitled "W(h)istful Expectations: Gambling in Victorian England." (Anybody wanting to give me a 'kick in the butt' towards this endeavor is highly welcome.)
While I was interviewing for my current position here, I remember stepping onto campus and feeling my heart literally warm as I saw the diversity of students. I began teaching English at De Anza College in 2000. Since then, I have taught the entire gamut of composition classes from EWRT200 to EWRT1C and EWRT2. I've served in a variety of capacities on campus including administrative positions as well as faculty coordinator positions. I have taught for LinC (Learning in Communities), Sankofa Scholars, Puente Program, REACH, and the Honors Program.
When I'm not teaching, I'm enjoying every minute I get to spend with my lovely daughter (or I'm wishing I were playing volleyball and basketball or singing in a rock/blues band). Please stop by my office sometime to chat! I enjoy talking not only about writing and literature but, equally as important, about UCLA and Lakers basketball games.
