Christina Espinosa-Pieb
Christina G. Espinosa-Pieb was appointed acting president of De Anza College by Foothill-De Anza district Chancellor Lee Lambert on Feb. 29, 2024, following the resignation of Lloyd A. Holmes. The district Board of Trustees ratified the appointment and named her interim president on April 1, 2024.
Espinosa-Pieb, who previously served as vice president of Instruction, has been a strong voice for diversity, equity and student success during a career that has spanned more than four decades at De Anza.
A first-generation college student herself, Espinosa-Pieb initially came to De Anza as a community volunteer, working with disabled students. She was hired as a student employee a few months later, in 1980.
Over the next 18 years she held a variety of increasingly responsible positions – including administrative assistant, lead affirmative action representative, and coordinator of Disability Support Programs and Services – before becoming dean of Academic Services in 1999. She was appointed vice president of Instruction in 2008.
Espinosa-Pieb served as vice president through the end of 2023, except for a period when she was interim president of De Anza during a previous leadership transition from 2018-2020.
