Course Description

This is an introduction to biology as a branch of the biological sciences and to its basic unifying principles, with selected application to the scientific method, evolutionary concepts, genetic modification, biotechnology, ecology, ecological crises, and human impacts.

BIOL-010.51Z: This is an online lecture, with an in person laboratory class. Students can log in to the lecture at anytime to do the required weekly course work. Laboratory section of the course meets in person on campus. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
