    Quick Notes

    • OTL Training Update
      • There’s a new training coming in Winter
    • J1 Guidance Workgroup
    • Harmonize Feedback
      • Thank you, Cheryl, for all your work on this
      • If you have any last minute feedback get that to Cheryl asap
    • Membership Update
      • Rachel filling the Artistic Expression seat, and Sri coming back to the Student Services (Counseling and DSS) seat
      • There will still be three open seats: Business and Finance, Learning Resources, Online Ed, Professional Development, Equity and Engagement, and Affinty/At large
    • Canvas Authentication Update
      • This will be launching soon; shouldn’t be a missive shift, but there will be some changes
    • Proctoring Update
      • Getting feedback on this will probably be a task for next quarter
    • Senate Presentation

    Agentic AI

    • Agentic AI Foothill Resolution
    • Example of Agentic AI
    • Agentic AI is a tool that can complete tasks for you, like take a class, answer questions, or whatever you have trained it to do; basically a task rabbit
    • Anyone can create an agent; there’s one for the budget committee and they’re working on one for the clubs
    • Daniele is here to share some faculty feedback which is mostly negative; instructors are worried, especially for asynch online classes, that students will have agents doing the majority of work
      • Amy points out that this isn’t an asynch class problem, agents are being used in all classes
    • Instructors can investigate through their reports; if a student is in the course 24/7, then it’s probably open for the agent; if assignments are getting done in 15 seconds, that might be a sign of an agent
    • Jory can block agents from coming into Canvas, but this would block all agents
    • Amy suggests maybe being able to register certain agents, like those instructors might want to use to help with tutoring or grading
    • Lots of students are using agents for time management, accessibility issues, etc.
    • Gemini and Notebook LIM, which are coming to Canvas in 2026, are agents
    • In terms of the Foothill letter:
      • Let's see if we can be added to it, if it’s too late, let’s endorse it
      • After talking to Jory, let’s see about making our own resolutions in Winter
      • Amy motions to endorse the Foothill letter with the first attempt to change the language to include De Anza
        • Lianna and Ivan second and third
        • No objections
    • Agents in class could potentially present a FERPA issue
    • Might be worth looking into a joint resolution in District Senate

    Modality and AI Survey

    • AI Questions for Survey
    • Mallory tweaked and added some good questions
    • Need to look at the phrasing of question 4 to see if it branches correctly
      • Multiple instructors may provide different AI guidance/use differently. How should students answer this question if some instructors never provide guidance, some instructors integrate scaffolded use of AI into their course, and everything in between?
    • We're hoping for a 10% response rate to this survey
    • Q6: Should we ask students specifically about why types of AI usage students want to learn more about (study assistance, research, writing, ethics, privacy, etc.)?
    • Q7 could become a matrix question that asks about interest in training for specific applications of AI
    • Amy motions to approve with changes
      • Lianna seconds and Ivan thirds

    No Good of the Order

    Meeting adjourns at 12:01
